Lovers Key Florida is located between Fort Myers Beach to the North and Bonita Beach to the South. The entrance to the park is about 1/2 mile south of Big Carlos Pass on Estero Blvd.The park is a few mile drive from downtown Fort Myers Beach.

Getting Around Lovers Key State Park

After turning right into the park, take the dirt road to the guard house and pay the entrance fee. Then continue along the road to the parking lot.

A tram is continually running from the parking lot to the beach and back again.

There is a gazebo, picnic tables and restrooms at the beach. Be sure to pack a lunch.

The Lovers Key Florida beach is a popular spot for boaters to pull ashore and enjoy a swim in the crystal clear Gulf of Mexico. This beach is very secluded and many think, romantic.

You cannot run a motor boat on the inland waters of the islands, but you can launch your boat at the boat ramp and anchor right off shore.

You can kayak and canoe to your heart's content in the inland waterways.

Lovers Key State Park is comprised of four islands: Lovers Key, Inner Key, Long Key and Black Island. No alcoholic beverages or pets are allowed on the beach.

Enjoy swimming, fishing, hiking, biking, kayaking, canoeing, and nature watching in the 1616 acre park.

Lovers Key Beach - #4 of the Top 10 Florida Beaches

Lovers Key Beach is a 2 1/2 mile stretch of beautiful white sand. The Travel Channel ranked it #4 out of the top 10 Florida beaches. You can take the courtesy tram to the beach. Be sure to pack a lunch and something to drink.

Biking on Lovers Key Florida

You can either rent a bike or bring your own to explore the the 5 miles of bike trails. Biking and hiking are the best ways to see Lovers Key Florida.

Boat Ramp at Lovers Key

If you trailer a boat it can be launched at the park boat ramp giving access to Estero Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. The boat ramp and bait shop are located across Estero Blvd. from the main park entrance.

Lovers Key Fishing

You can catch redfish, snook, a prized tarpon and trout based on the season. You can also test your skill at cast netting for mullet in the bay.

Hiking

You might enjoy hiking on the 2.5 miles of trails through a maritime hammock along the banks of the canals on Black Island.

Other Things To Do on Lovers Key

Try the Eco Tour. It's a great way to see the island and the wildlife. There are also picnic areas, restrooms, showers and a playground for the kids.

And don't pass the opportunity to bird watch!
